Pl - Redraft - "Noting the responsibility of the occupying power, to the fullest extent of the means available to it, to ensure the food and medical supplies of the population;"


PP2 - Redraft - Delete "these"" in first line, Add a comma after "country." Change "Iraqi people" to "people of Iraq" (in both places).

OPl - Redraft as "Requests all parties concerned to strictly abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law;" Delete remainder of the text.

OP3 - Redraft as follows: "Authorises the Secretary General to undertake the functions authorised in this resolution: in person or through representatives designated by him; in co-ordination with relevant authorities; and irrespective of procedures laid down in the above-mentioned resolutions, related agreements and administrative instruments;"

OP4 - Delete in the first line ", in particular,". It does not fit in the new structure of the text.

OP5 - Redraft as "Authorises the Secretary General to review, as a matter of urgency, the contracts concluded by the Government of Iraq to determine their relative priorities and to proceed with such contracts in accordance with these priorities;"

OP6 - Redraft paragraph: "Authorises the Secretary General to negotiate and execute contracts for essential humanitarian items under the programme, and to make needed adjustments to contracts and their respective letters of credit under the Programme, notwithstanding distribution plans approved under the Programme; "

OP9 - Include, after "for any" the words "extraordinary and unavoidable", delete "and delaying" and after "shipments" add "of essential humanitarian goods".

OP11 - Retain the second version of the paragraph - it is clearer and tighter in its meaning.

OP19 - Please redraft to reflect more accurately the relevant international humanitarian law provisions by replacing "access by humanitarian organisations" to "provision of humanitarian assistance".
