These statements are usually negotiated and require unanimity
among Council members. Because they represent one of the Council's most common
actions, it is important to have the texts available for scrutiny.

Canada's committment to
relay UN information - especially of the Security Council to the public, is reflected
in this site. This link gives daily updates of press statements and also gives
the Security Council agenda for the month.
This posting on the Swedish
Mission site includes not only press briefings but also additional information
on the work of the Council and its future program of work. Posted daily during
the Swedish presidency.
After a long pause, the Slovenian
delegation took up the precedent set by the Italians 20 months earlier. These
statements were posted daily, within two hours of delivery, during the Slovenian
presidency.
A pioneering step to post
Presidential press briefings, especially significant since this was the month
of the Secretary General elections. GPF called on other delegations to follow
suit, but for a long time none did.
