GPF Annual Highlights
1995
Social Summit – We attended the World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen in March. GPF had a booth at the NGO Forum to distribute its literature and Director Jim Paul made presentations at three NGO Forum workshops. The Summit was an important opportunity to network with other NGOs from around the world and to raise GPF's profile in the NGO community.
Security Council – We founded the NGO Working Group on the Security Council with several other NGO partners including the World Federalist Movement, Amnesty International and the International Women's Tribune Center. The Working Group held its first meeting in April with Ambassadors Colin Keating of New Zealand and Razali Ismail of Malaysia. A second meeting took place in September with delegates from Uruguay, Malaysia and Italy. We also held private meetings with the chief of staff of the General Assembly President and with the Vice-Chairmen of the General Assembly Working Group on the Reform of the Security Council.
Wellesley Conference Planning All year we engaged in planning with Wellesley College and the Campaign for Peace and Democracy for a conference in 1996.
Web Site Planning Anticipating a GPF web site, we began to study the possibilities and make plans for a site sometime in 1996.
Accreditation – The United Nations Department of Public Information gave GPF accreditation "in association" with the department, giving us access to the UN buildings and many official events.
Office Equipment We acquired a high-powered fax machine, new phones and new web-capable computer to enhance our communication and outreach work.
Speaking and Conferences GPF Director Jim Paul spoke at a number of events and conferences, including meetings in March and September in Germany and the Netherlands.
Global Policy Forum is supported primarily by contributions from generous individuals who join as members. GPF also receives grants from foundations and partner institutions.
