Mr. Nana Effah-Apenteng was born in Bompata, Ashanti (Ghana) on 7 August 1945. He is married, with 3 children.
Nana is also a traditional ruler. He was installed chief of Bompata in 1976 ans is currently the paramount chief of the (Amantena) traditional area.

1974 - 1975 Oxford University (UK), obtained a diploma in International Relations
1976 - 1981 Joined the Ghana Foreign Service
1986 - 1988 Ghana Embassy, Moscow
1988 - 1990 Ghana Embassy, Rome, Italy
1993 - 1997 Ghana Embassy, Washington
1 April 2000 Ghana Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN
Sept. 2001 - 2002 Chairman of the Fifth Commitee of the 56 th session of the General Assembly
Mr. Effah-Apenteng has also held various positions of responsibility at the headquarters (Accra) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana in the economic relations, the international organizations and conferences bureau and the administration department. He also represented Ghana at many international conferences and seminars.
