WikiLeaks Haiti Documents Show US Influence

Files recently made public reveal American efforts to maintain political and economic control over Haiti. New revelations from WikiLeaks show that the US micromanaged Haiti's economy and politics to align it to US interests. According to the cables, the US President’s administration sought to limit the minimum wage for Haitian textile workers. They also show that the US government backed Haiti's presidential poll despite reservations over a ban on the country's largest political party.

Trove of files recently made public reveal American efforts to maintain political and economic control over island.

New revelations from WikiLeaks show how the US micromanaged Haiti's economy and politics to align it to US interests.

According to the cables, the Obama administration apparently sought to limit the minimum wage for Haitian textile workers.

They also show that the US government backed Haiti's presidential poll - despite reservations over a ban on the country's largest political party.
