GRAIN has pieced together a slideshow that lists individuals who have been actively pursuing or supporting farmland grabs. The list is not comprehensive but rather helps to get an idea of who and what kind of people are involved. The “land grabber profiles” indicate who and which institutions support them where to find more information on these specific land grabs. The list indicates that the number of land grabbers is small, in stark contrast to the high number of people displaced by their actions. In addition to land, these land grabs also involve water and other resources. The latest dataset on land grabs claims that 10 million hectares of land have been grabbed by foreign companies on average every year since 2007.
