Moscow, 29th June: A protocol on the results of the Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes's visit to the Russian Federation was signed in the Russian capital on Thursday [29th June]. The document's aim is to expand military and military and technical cooperation between the two countries. The Indian defence minister told journalists that the protocol envisages the creation of a bilateral commission on military and technical matters. Fernandes said that his talks at the ministerial level in Moscow and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin could be described as a breakthrough in many respects. The Indian minister thanked the Russian president for supporting India in its aspiration to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. "We are looking forward to Putin's visit to India due to take place during the first week of October.
