New Security Council Group Named (October 15, 2004)
Argentina, Denmark, Greece, Japan and the United Republic of Tanzania will replace Angola, Chile, Germany, Pakistan, and Spain as non-permanent members of the Security Council for 2005-2006. Some expect the 2005-2006 Security Council to be more united than the previous term's, which was marked by strong divisions over Iraq. Observers predict more consensus and cooperation as certain members eye permanent seats on the Council. (BBC)
