Diverting Food to Fuel

Unprecedented amounts of grains are being used around the world for biofuel production. This chart by the New York Times illustrates the new trend in using grain for biofuels rather than food consumption. From 2000 to 2010, the percentage of grain converted into biofuel went from 1% to 6%.
